This Sunday, i switched the sermon topic a little bit. Why? Because i feel that our church is missing something. There’s something that’s just a little out of sync at the BCEC. Though we’re growing, people are maturing, and things are moving forward — there’s this part of me that still feels that we’re losing sight of what’s real — of the reality of Christ.

Perhaps it’s just me, but I find that as I begin to progress, or develop, i quickly lose sight of the things that are important. I normally find myself dealing with the urgent, as opposed to focusing on the things that are important. And in many ways, the BCEC feels as if it’s falling into that trap. What are the things that are important? What are the things that are competing with the important?

At it’s very core is what this week’s message was about. The most important thing – the thing of utmost value – is Christ. To know Him. To love Him. To be with Christ

For us, the brothers and sisters at the BCEC, this alignment with Christ needs to be our central focus and concern. Everything else begins to come back in line once we let our heart’s and soul’s focus on the One.

“Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one, and come with me.
See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.
The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me.”
Song of Songs, 2:10-13

This was a special message outside of our normal series for the year. You can find the message as well as the worship at the BCEC Sermon Page or listen to last week’s sermon directly – And Now For Something A Little Different.
