i9:2 – The Pursuit of Happiness

“I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve.”
-Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

i92DataWhat makes you happy? What gives you pleasure? What’s the difference between happiness and joy? For most of us, “living the dream” is something that was mapped out for us — university, work, marriage, kids — but are those the elements that really make us happy? Even in our pursuit and following of God, sometimes happiness seems so elusive.

This year at i9:2, let’s explore happiness. From pleasure to joy, what is true happiness, and what is our purpose in life. It’s your space to think about the way the world works, where you fit in, where your journey has brought you and how God sees all of this.

SPEAKER
Rev Dick Lee will be our keynote speaker. He pioneered the second generation work here in the UK, before returning to the USA, and is currently serving as pastor at Fort Bend Community Church. We’re excited to welcome him back to the UK for i9:2.

THE CONFERENCE
If you’ve never been to an i9:2 conference, it’s a conference that challenges your mind, engages your heart, and excites your soul. You get great conversations with all sorts of different people, exchanging ideas, and connecting on more than just a superficial level.

And this year is one of the most exciting conferences we’ve ever planned. We’ll be trying out a couple of really new (and slightly crazy) ideas. 🙂 Stuff that we’re keeping secret for now, but will let you know in good time.

WHAT IS i9:2?
i9:2 is a non-profit group that puts together conferences, events and seminars for grown-ups figuring out what it means to be grown up. It’s a place for us to discover or rediscover God, and what that means for us living in 2015. We are people who are looking for answers, wrestling with our past, and looking towards the future.

i9:2 stands for the verse in the Bible from Isaiah 9:2:
“The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.”

It reflects our feelings about the age we live in, and a yearning for that light to shine into this darkness.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at this year’s awesome i9:2.
