Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.
1 Corinthians 9:24-26

This is an invitation to train.

For the past 3 weeks (including my brief summation at the retreat), i’ve kinda been giving the same message at the BCEC. I’m not sure people have noticed, but I thought I’d spell it out for people here.

Serving God bears spiritual fruit.

If you can sense a stagnation in your spiritual walk, if the frustrations of life are wearing you down, perhaps it’s time to walk in faith, and discover how God’s blessings follow your trust in Him. These opportunities are all here to help train you in your relationship with God – to run the race for victory!

If any of these sound like something you want to be a part of, or if you’ve got any other awesome ideas, drop a comment or send me an email.

So these jobs that we’re currently recruiting.

1. Training
This is going be an 8 week trial course that focuses on developing and strengthening your core beliefs and your walk with God. Basically, i’ll be running you through the Bible basics, memorising scripture, sharing your faith, leading Bible studies, and prayer. Expect homework, reading, and practicals.
Commitment level will be high, and we’ll be meeting on Saturdays (time to be confirmed).

2. Children’s Sunday School
Want to learn how to lead Children’s worship? Do you want to get involved in Sunday school? Want to bless the parents in church, at the same time learning stories from the Bible that you may not have known? I’d like to organise an introduction to Children’s ministry, and see if we can get you involved.
Date not yet set. Drop a comment if you’re interested, or send me an email.

3. Young Adult Conference
I’m planning to run a young adult conference for the West Midlands, next May. If you want to be part of an organising committee that reaches a young working adult demographic, let me know. I’m looking for a team that has a desire to reach this group.
Places are limited for the organising team. So don’t dilly-dally. If you want to be part of it, tell me.

4. Welcome Team
Learn to be welcoming. I’m offering a 2 hour seminar on how to be welcoming, and an opportunity to sign up to the welcome team. I’ll put you through a two hour training session and then send you out to the welcome team organisers, to be part of making BCEC a welcoming place for everyone.
This training will take place during 1 2-hour slot on a Saturday towards the end of September.

5. Web Development Team
This is totally a shot in the dark. But my current web developer needs help. Or at least extra coders. I have a very clear vision on what we can do online, but i’ll need some people to help. If you can programme, I need your help.

6. Cell Leader
Do you think you could organise and lead a cell group? Okay, fine, maybe you’re not sure if you could. But does part of you feel like you’d like to try? I want to train, pray, and encourage you. This will be an ongoing training process, that works through apprenticeship. If you’re interested, drop a comment, or drop me an email.

Ok. Let’s start with these.
Let go & Let’s Go!

This is a very practical application to this Sunday’s sermon on Looking Ahead. You can find all our messages as well as the worship at the BCEC Sermon Page or listen to the sermon directly – Looking Ahead.
