At BCEC, we’ve been exploring a lot about our roles in our families, workplaces, schools, community, church and kingdom lately. I’m not entirely sure we can say we’re all experts and we’ve got it all sussed. But the good thing is, we’re exploring it, and seeing what it says in the bible about it, and trying to apply it to our lives. This year our BCEC English Retreat will be focusing on the 2016 church theme of seeking “His Kingdom Come”.
Why are we repeating a theme we’re already exploring this year? Good question. It’s an important theme to continue seeking God through, as we can never learn too much or finish our learning. Sometimes we might forget that we are citizens of Heaven, and every so often we need to be challenged to think differently on how or why we’re here on this kingdom: how we can be a big impact on this earth; being kingdom seekers, kingdom fighters and kingdom proclaimers…all in this day and age. And so at this retreat we’ll be exploring kingdom values with regards to heavenly perspectives as opposed to earthly ones; and what it means to be a citizen of heaven. This is all very exciting to us on the planning team!
Our very special keynote speaker is one of Bert’s old time buddies from America, Pastor Enoch Liao, who is a pastor of Boston Chinese Evangelical Church (also BCEC!). He’ll be flying over to speak for our retreat and we’re really excited for what God is going to say through him!
This retreat will be like a big group church family holiday away in Milton Keynes at COCM. But it will have the added bonus of having great conversations with other brothers and sisters in Christ, opportunities to share and discuss complicated issues of life that we may never have time to talk about on a regular Sunday at church. And we’ll also have a good children’s program run by a couple from Liverpool, so those with children can also enjoy the talks and workshops! And not to mention, good Chinese food 😉
So we’ve got a lot of great things in store, but we’ll let you know more of those details closer to the time!
